How do I download myFREE 60-day trial version of Finance Plus?

To download your FREE 60-day trial version of Finance Plus please visit our ‘Product’ page and click the Download link.  You will then need to complete a few details.  Once completed you will then be emailed a link to our download page.  If for any reason, you do not receive our automated email with the download link, first check that our email has not inadvertently gone to your Span or Junk folders.  If it is not there, then please visit our ‘Contact us’ page and submit a request for the 60 day trial version link.

 

Q:

If I download my FREE 60 day trial version will I be charged once the 60 days has elapsed?

The Free 60 day trial version is designed to give you a flavour of Finance Plus as it does differ from our paid versions of Finance Plus.  Firstly, the trial version uses MS Access as its database, whereas our paid versions of Finance Plus use MS SQL Server.  Certain advanced functionality is also removed from our trial version.  The trial version is also preloaded with ‘dummy’ data.

 

Q:

What operating system does the FREE 60 day trial version of Finance Plus use?

All versions of MS Windows from and including Windows XP are supported.

 

Q:

What happens once my 60 days has expired?

A:

 

The trial version of Finance Plus will no longer work.  We recomend following the 60 day trial you uninstall the software.

 

 

System Requirements

Q: What are the system requirements of Finance Plus?

A:

 

 

 

Finance Plus will run on all versions of MS Windows from and including Windows XP.  Finance Plus also requires SQL Server for its database.  If you do not already have SQL Server running in your business you can purchase it directly from your MicroSoft vendor or download a free entry-level version of SQL Server called SQL Server Express directly from the Microsoft website here.

What version of SQL Server does Finance Plus support?

Finance Plus requires SQL Server 2005 onwards

Does Finance Plus support TLS?

A:

 

Finance Plus does support TLS 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2

 

Q:

Do I need to install SQL Server Native Client on each user’s computer and if so which version?

A:

 

 

Finance Plus requires SQL Server Native Client to be installed each user’s computer. It is required to allow the application to securely connect to its SQL Server database.

 

Q:

Do I need to set up an ODBC connection for Finance Plus to work?

A:

 

 

The Finance Plus application will automatically create an ODBC connection (called ‘OnionSoft’)when it is first installed.  Although the application itself does not use this ODBC connection its reporting engine (powered by Crystal Reports) does require this ODBC connection for reports to generate.

 

  Reporting
Q:

How are reports generated in Finance Plus?

A:

 

 

Finance Plus utilises Crystal Reports as its built-in reporting engine.  Each module in Finance Plus (e.g. Sales Ledger) has its own Reporting folder which is pre-populated with a comprehensive set of reports.  To run a report, you simply double click it and follow the on-screen instructions.

 

Q:

How do the reports connect to the Finance Plus database?

A:

 

 

Each report relies upon an ODBC connection to the Finance Plus SQL Server database. This ODBC connection (called ‘OnionSoft’) is automatically created on the user’s computer with the Finance Plus is first installed. For the ODBC connection to work you must have SQL Server Native Client 9 or above installed.

 

Q:

Will I need to build my own reports?

A:

 

 

Finance Plus is pre-loaded with a comprehensive suite of reports.  They are designed to reduce the need for any custom reports to be required.  Each report connects to the Finance Plus SQL Server database allowing it to pull data in real-time, using pre-written stored procedures and views in our database. 

 

Q:

How can I build my own reports or modify existing reports?

A:

 

 

 

In the unlikely event that you require existing reports to be modified or new reports to be built you can either request us to modify or build reports for you, or you can build the reports yourself using Crystal Reports (v10 or above).   If you decide you would like us to modify existing reports for you we will often do this free of charge or at a nominal rate.  We also offer a report creation service if you require new reports to be built. 

 

Q:

I have modified some existing reports for my own requirements.  Can I hide these reports from other users?

A:

Reports stored in folders under the “Standard” root folder are public to all users of Finance plus within your business.  To keep reports private so only you can see them add them to a folder under the root folder “User Specific”.

  Licensing & Support
Q: How is Finance Plus Licensed?

A:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finance Plus is licensed on a combination of

  1. The number of ledgers (i.e. sets of books) set up within the application; and
  2. The number of unique end user computers (i.e. machines) accessing the application.

When you initially purchase Finance Plus you obtain a 15year license which entities you to:

  1. Run 1 ledger (i.e. set of books); and
  2. 1x unique end user computer access the application

Additional ledgers and additional end user computer access is granted on an annual license basis.
